Art Swaps... oh it's so exciting!

What a lovely surprise! A little piece of art in my mail box.



It's funny I was going to say this is my first art swap, but I've been doing it for years. Artist to Artist at the various market I did around the Adelaide area. I always took it as a compliment that other artists would like to own my creations. And tended to be a serendipitous event.

But I suppose this was my first organized group swap with a theme, where a lovely coordinator puts up a theme then you submit your name and on the cut off date each person is allocated a partner. It's up to us to swap postal detail, then create the piece of art and mail it off. It's a bit like old fashioned pen pals but with little pieces of art.

Each month there is a new swap with a new theme which makes you think outside the box. January (which I have signed up for and today been allocated a partner)  theme is Fancy Hat/Movie stars. Mmmmm that will get the grey cells jumping. You don't have to do every month but it is a…

There's something so nice about the first day of the year.  Shinny new and exciting, even after a glass of bubbly and a few Pimms into the wee hours the night before. I saw the new year in with good food, good company and the mOOn.

Of course because I could sleep in, I woke with a bing. So up I toddled, put some washing on and tried out a few yoga poses for the first time since the stomach zipper. OK well I could only do a few standing poses and I am so not bendy at the moment but it's a start and felt great, sort of.

I sewed up a couple of cushion covers for my new veranda lounge (an old bed I cut down) I'm going for lots of happy colours this year. I set myself up with coffee, my camera and some reading material on said lounge. I love being out on the veranda with the fresh air and the birds and the lovely trees. But today I only lasted about half an hour it was 32 degrees C and 78% humidity by 9am. And I just started to cook.
